Sounds Australia Launch At SXSW

Sounds Australia, a new brand designed to promote Australian contemporary music abroad, will receive its grand unveiling as Australia’s delegation bid farewell to the mighty South by Southwest Festival. 2009 sees Oz’s biggest ever presence at SXSW, with 31 bands including The Drones, Youth Group, Gabriella Cilmi, The Grates and Birds of Tokyo making their presence felt. The Australia Council will be also be providing $160,000 in touring funding to 15 of the acts, as a concerted effort is made to help Australia’s talent crack the US market and beyond.
