Steve Lawler's Satanic Harlem Shuffle (London Jan 26)

Steve Lawler chatted to Skrufff this week about his upcoming sixth birthday celebrations of his London party Harlem Nights and revealed that he remains uncertain about London's club scene outside the End.

'I always hear about lots of nights starting and finishing but for me the only time I ever spend in a club there is when I'm playing at Viva
Harlem nights, and if I have to judge the London club scene on that then I would say it's one of the best in the world,' Steve told Skrufff.

'In fact, when I'm in London, I don't tend to mix with the outside world that much, I spend most of my time in the hotel or at a friend's
house, before and after the gig; which incidentally is pretty much what my friends that live in London do, they all choose not to go out
that much anymore and instead have their get-togethers at their local pubs and houses,' he said.

'No one I know that actually lives in London really ventures that much into the centre,' he mused, 'Apart from for my night of course,' Steve laughed.

He also brushed off questions about Berlin ('what is it with everyone's all of a sudden interest in Berlin! This is the second time
I been asked this question in an interview this week') and dismissed any diabolic associations linked to the fact he's celebrating Viva
Harlem's birthday number six.

'I believe the Devil wears Prada and God wears Sandals,' he joked, 'But to give you a serious answer, I believe in Good and Bad, and what
better symbols to have. If they are real, then right now the devil is winning with all the bad that is going on in the world right now.'

The good friend of Ozzy Osbourne's DJ son Louis also dismissed Iron Maiden's '666 (the number of the beast)' declaring 'heavy metal was one style of music I avoided like the plague.

'I would rather chew barbed wire,' he added.
