Revellers and enthusiasts are about descend into Sydney for a Hip Hop culture festival at CarriageWorks, representing Breaking, Graffiti, Beatboxing, MCing and DJing.

A fresh experience for the hip hop novice and old skooler alike, the CarriageWorks contemporary arts centre at the old Eveleigh Rail Yards will be transformed into an inner-city Hip Hop playground with a series of free events, workshops and two huge nights of entertainment.

Ensuring true Hip Hop is represented at PLATFORM 1 is artistic director Nick Power aka B*Boy Rely, a well respected Hip Hop artist working throughout Australia and internationally as a B*Boy, choreographer, performer, teacher, and activist. Most recently Nick performed in Survival Tactics and directed and performed in Stiltbreak by STALKER.

The Festival runs over 2 days and showcases over 70 emerging and established artists and performers, including Def Wish Cast, Foreign Heights, Morganics, Mistery, Wire MC, Metabass Allstars and many others.

On Friday, catch Flexing Skillz, a freestyle jam featuring over 20 artists from Sydney and around Australia, check out the free photographic exhibition of Australian graffiti artists by Guillaume Chesneau, and performances of STALKER's Stiltbreak.

On Saturday, check out the Can Control graffiti comp and Freak the Technique B*Boy/B*Girl battles. Create your own graff on the Chalk it Up graffiti wall or enter the tag comp. Get involved with workshops in Breaking, Popping, Locking and Street Funk featuring Australia's best teachers, including Arch Rival, Travers Ross, Versastyle and Romeo Pop.
