Midem Honours Peter Gabriel

'80s world synth icon Peter Gabriel has been named Midem's 'Personality Of The Year' at a gala in France.

According to Billboard, the man responsible for not only 'Sledgehammer', but also cool ambient soundscapes (which inevitably influenced genres like Trance), was greeted by a host of the big wigs in Cannes, including U2's manager and veteran promoter Harvey Goldsmith.

While being renowned for forward-thinking music, Gabriel was also a champion of multimedia CD-ROMs, including the highly popular Xplora and EVE titles.

Gabriel described himself as very humbled by the accolade and stated that the financial burden of the music world will lead to new avenues of creativity. Tags
