Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am believes the next revolution in music will come in the form of mobile entertainment.

As part of the 'Mobile Backstage' conference in Barcelona, the artist stated that the record industry had become somewhat obsolete when compared to today's technology, saying "artists of tomorrow need to do deals" that reflect current trends.

"It's the mobile industry that will produce the Michael Jacksons and Madonnas of tomorrow," he said.

Citing a lack of interest or relationships between phone carriers and artists, he believes the 'Timbaland Verizon deal is great', but only for those with the US network.

"Musicians are just as important as football, soccer or basketball players, but we have no ball.

"We need our own ball."
