The legendary All Tomorrow’s Parties festival is coming to Australia for the first time in 2009, with three very different events to be held in Mt. Buller, Sydney and Brisbane, all curated by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. The Sydney event will be held at Cockatoo Island Saturday 17 January and repeated on Sunday 18. Joining Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds will be one of the most eclectic and left-field line-ups in recent memory, including legendary Brisbane punk group The Saints, English space rockers Spiritualized, jazz and blues musician James ‘Blood’ Ulmer, ’60s psychedelic electronic duo Silver Apples, British experimental duo Fuck Buttons, ’70s Krautrock group Harmonia, experimental American musician Michael Gira, ’80s Australia post-punk group Laughing Clowns, Go-Betweens founder Robert Forster, Sydney indie group Bridezilla and experimental jazz trio The Necks. The Big Day Out this is not. (Thankfully.) More info at atpfestival.com.
