The Odd Couple Part 2 - Drum 'n Bass Act Shapeshifter Support Tool Tonight in Melbourne

Well...the TranZfusion crew thought our news item earlier in the week reporting Arrested Development supporting INXS on an upcoming Australian tour was an interesting pairing to say the least.

However, it's been trumped by tonights pairing of the heavy rock Big Day Out headliner,  Tool and New Zealand Drum 'n Bass live act, Shapeshifter, at Melbourne's Sidney Myer Music Bowl (Wednesday 31st of January).

So will Tool be shocked when they hear bass-heavy break-beat emanating from the speakers previous to their time on stage- Far from it. In fact, it was due to good old fashioned word of mouth that Tool heard about Shapeshifter and last week personally invited them to play the preceding set after a fan sung their praises to the metal rockers.

Shapeshifter's manager Rebecca Caughey told nzherald.co.nz: "One of the guys [in Tool] has got a Kiwi friend that just raved about the band."

Despite the two bands disparate music styles, Ms Caughey said all of Shapeshifter's members were excited about the gig. "They're stoked. They're all crazy Tool fans."

The concert, to be held at the Sidney Meyer Music Bowl, has sold out and crowds of up to 15,000 people are expected.
