Over 1000 Sydneysiders had their evening cut short last weekend, when police closed down an illegal warehouse party in Redfern.

A number of complaints were received from local residents in McCauley St, prompting authorities to eject the revelers and confiscate equipment.

But when the unhappy patrons resisted, the riot squad was called in for backup and three arrests were made.

A 22 year old man was charged with resisting arrest, throwing missiles at police, violent disorder, riot and affray, while a 32 year old Marrickville woman was apprehended after allegedly damaging a police car door.

A 19 year old from Penrith was the third to be detained and will face charges of assaulting a police officer.

Investigations are continuing to determine who the organizers were and how they gained entry to the abandoned factory.
