Splendour In The Grass - Final Acts Announced

The final acts for Splendour 2007 have now been announced, so let's do a quick run down on the latest additions.

A great choice for the Splendour line-up is Irish singer-songwriter Damien Rice in full band mode - with his latest album '9' and a successful tour earlier in the year, this is one act not to miss. The Horrors are winners, even if it is because Jarvis Cocker has tipped them as the future of British rock. More Irish lads have been added, with Ash (about to release their fifth album). Also, what true Aussie festival is complete without Paul Kelly and his catalogue of classics-

The Beautiful Girls will be making an appearance, emerging out of the studio with a drum kit in tow. There's the rootsy/folk, psychedelic Sydney-based Old Man River and one of Perth's pop finest, The Panics.

Two bands pegged to be great live shows are the UK's four-piece outfit the Editors (who supported Franz Ferdinand in 2005) and OK Go from Chicago. Last but not least is Teenager - described as young, unpredictable, loud and drunk, they're a bit mysterious and are set to make their debut performance at Splendour.

On the electronic front, it's either 'indietronica' or electro/pop with Sneaky Sound System, Muscles, Cut Copy, Midnight Juggernauts, and Mark Murphy and Sean Candy, plus the Funktrust DJs. Another huge electronic drawcard is Gotye, in demand right now for his live show. For those who can't live without hip hop, Sydney's The Herd and Planet Asia from the US West Coast will deliver some 'true school' intense rhyme delivery.

Music aside, what hippy fest would be complete without a Global Village- The area includes a cafe, crafts, traditional dancing and even some Tibetan Gyuto Monks hosting workshops on meditation, tantric arts and chanting. Glastonbury, eat your heart out.

So all that's left to do now is to grab your wellies and a raincoat, plan your schedule once those line-up times are released and get set to go in less than a month.
