It may have lost Sharam, but the Playground Weekender has gained plenty more acts worth pitching a tent for.

The Black Seeds will cross the Tasman to woo us once more, alongside local live acts Deepchild, Poxymusic, The Cops, Bridezilla, The Ghosts, Richard in Your Mind and Sparkadia.

On the DJ front, new additions include poll leaders Ajax and Kid Kenobi (with MC Shureshock), the Bang Gang DJs, Love Tattoo, Riot Belgium and a host more. UK wordsmith Steve Spacek will also lend his vocals to Nathan McLay's DJ set, and it has been confirmed that Mr Scruff is locked in for one of his signature 5-6 hour stints.

Standout Artists:
Elbow
Elbow have been described as "passion personified". From the shadowy, breathless romance of their early single, 'Newborn' to Garvey's eyes-shut, stock-still intensity on-stage, Elbow's tales of life, love and politics will stir your soul, make you care, and inspire devotion. It has been three years since Elbow thrilled Australian audiences on the Placebo tour. This is one not to miss.

The Dears
Described by NME as "Probably the Best New Band in the World", The Dears combine impassioned vocals with a moody, intense brand of orchestral pop/rock. However, the band's onstage intensity and quiet defiance defy easy categorisation. Live, The Dears are a unique and powerful presence that deserve not to be missed. Back in Australia for the first time since the release of their acclaimed album 'Gang of Losers', Playground Weekenders can expect a blazing live performance.

Fat Freddy's Drop
Fat Freddy's Drop are a New Zealand seven-piece dub/soul/reggae band. No two Freddy's gigs are the same as the midnight marauders improvise and jam mystic supernovas of future funk, fakes and freaky sidesteps. Driven by the power of these hypnotic live performances, sheer hard work, and savvy independent CD and vinyl releases, the Freddy's voodoo is heading for worldwide domination. Their debut album not only won a host of gongs at the NZ Music Awards and went seven times platinum in NZ, it was also voted 'Worldwide Album of the Year' at the Radio 1 Gilles Peterson Worldwide Music Awards.

Chk Chk Chk !!!
!!! are a Sacramento/NYC-based 9 piece punk-funk group making music with an edge who have been compared to Happy Monday's, Taking Heads and ESG. However, the seven-piece has managed to mash their various influences (Krautrock, early US house and techno, 80s electro, punk, and 70s funk) into a potent style all their own. The band
