The recently held 49th Grammy Awards can be viewed either with concern for the future of dance music or further evidence that the Awards ceremony is completely out of touch with the actual scene.

Despite there being a total 108 Grammy's awarded it was a pair of pop stars who received the two awards for electronic music. Madonna was awarded a Grammy for her album 'Confessions On A Dancefloor', in the category of 'Best Electronic/Dance Album', beating out The Pet Shop Boys, Zero 7 and Paul Oakenfold (an artist on Madonna's Maverick label)..

Justin Timberlake won in the category of 'best Dance Recording', winning over Depeche Mode, Goldfrapp and (again) the Pet Shop Boys.

For Madonna, the Midas touch was provided by Stuart Price AKA Jacques Lu Cont who produced the album while Timberlake's track Sexyback is a co-production with hiphop's Timbaland.

Price claimed some limelight of his own, winning the Grammy for 'Best Remixed Recording' for his reworking of Coldplay's 'Talk'

Interesting Grammy Info:

The latest Grammy Awards, held in Los Angeles, attracted its largest television audience in three years. The ceremony garnered an estimated 20 million viewers across the United States, according to Nielsen ratings data.

Just hours after the Grammys global telecast after the Dixie Chicks' multi-win, Amazon.com was reporting that sales for the Dixies had leaped 1500%.
