161, one of Melbourne's most respected clubs, is expanding.

The establishment has received news from the local council that building permits have been approved, which means the club will be renovated to incorporate a decking area on the rooftop (plus bar) and a new bar downstairs (which extends into the 165 address) that will install another nexo club system.

The club is set for an increase in numbers and has been granted extended hours on a Sunday, meaning both levels will be licenced 24 hours a day, from Thursday through to Monday morning.

Club owner Gus Cullen believes that this breakthrough will mean everything is ready in time for the Summer silly season. With the 161 line-up comprehensively booked out until then, here's a quick rundown of who will be rocking the confines over the next month:

Friday 5th October: Justin Martin (US) hits the decks in conjunction with his latest and brilliant Buzzin' Fly compilation, Chaos Restored.

Friday 19th October: Sean Quinn and Gus Cullen launch fridays@onesixone Volume 2 - a double-cd compilation complemented with a four -hour, back-to-back set.

Friday 26th October: Shlomi Aber (Israel) will be in town to promote new album, State Of No One - out through Renaissance.

Friday 2nd November: Bjorn Wilke (Germany) returns for a series of shows at onesixone under the name, neon.

onesixone just keeps on getting bigger!
