Merka To Release Debut Album On Fat!

Merka, aka Mark Ford, is one of the UK's most renowned breaks producers - he's also set to release debut album, 'Beserka', on Fat! Records. The album takes us on a spacey, futuristic, fun and funky ride through the world of breaks.

In 2003, Merka had first wax taste through Future Funk Squad's Re:connect, gaining recognition from not only the punters, but also the likes of Laurent Garnier and Shut Up And Dance. His flair got him noticed and into a sets alongside stalwarts such as Bushwacka! and Rennie Pilgrem.

With the album described as being 'a playful blend of Jazz, Funk and Sci-Fi licks in a shape-shifting, trend-hopping Can Can through every genre of music since rave began ... this is [sic] dancefloor breaks but with no gnarliness in sight!'

The album has been likened to artists like Luke Vibert as well as a Ninja Tune-styled architecture. With that kind of description, one can assume that high expectations will be a surety.

Merka has also been confirmed to a national tour this June/July across the major cities.
