Kids in Japan have always been at the forefront of cool shit when it comes to technology. Hell, we even had a Nintendo Virtual Boy (one of the many reasons Nintendo kind of faded in the late '80s/early '90s.

Anyhoo, this is another company from the cool-ass country who've teamed up with a 'media artist' to present Tenori-On, a mystical, magical instrument that, well, we're not quite sure, but we've got a YouTube for you to have a look at.

According to the website, it's a '16x16 LED button matrix [that] is simultaneously a performance-input controller and display. By operating and interacting with the LED buttons and the light they produce, you gain access to the TENORI-ON's numerous performance capabilities.
The TENORI-ON provides six different performance and sound/light modes for broad performance versatility and these modes can be combined and used simultaneously for rich, complex musical expression'.

Spoken like a true Japanenglish website.

Just enjoy the bloody clip.
