Recently reported in the New York Post was news of a most unlikely meeting to have taken place in Philadelphia. Jay-Z and Sean "Diddy" Combs were having a 'getting to know you' session with movie producers Harvey and Bob Weinstein and executives from cable company Comcast.

The meeting was apparently arranged to discuss an "urban focused channel" with the project, if it gets off the ground, likely be featured on Comcast's video-on-demand platform, a segment of Comcast's operations that is key to their future plans with its expansion a priority.

Although Jaz-Z and Diddy's involvement in the new channel would be in a managerial capacity, their variety of other business ventures would preclude them from having the time to assume the role of head honcho's.

Background Info
Comcast already owns a 50 percent stake in TV One, an urban-focused cable network that competes with Black Entertainment Television. But the cable operator has been aggressively building out its VOD platform and currently lacks on- demand urban- themed programming.

The business relationship between the Weinstein's and Jay-Z goes way back. In 1998, rapper Jay-Z's third album, Vol. 2: Hard Knock Life made him one of hip-hop's biggest crossover acts, with the single "Hard Knock Life" becoming a major hit on radio and the sales charts. In 1999, Jay-Z, who also runs the hip-hop oriented Rock-A-Fella Records label, launched a major concert tour, in which he joined forces with fellow rappers Method Man, DMX, and Redman for a road trip that packed halls at 54 shows in two months, earning $18 million at the turnstiles. The documentary 'Back Stage' takes a close look at the music Jay-Z and his friends created onstage, as well as their adventure as they take one of rap's biggest shows on the road. The Weinstein's were Executive Producers on this project.
