INgrooves, a leading digital music label and distribution company, recently announced that it has signed seven major recording artists, all representing different music genres, in the past two months.

These artists, combined, have sold over 35 million units worldwide through their respective traditional record labels.

Of interest to TranZFusion readers in particular are the signing of Too $hort (Hip-hop/Rap), Thomas Dolby (Electronic), Ginuwine (R&B/Soul)  and The Crystal Method (Dance), all of which  will be using INgrooves as their digital label for new releases.

INgrooves will use its proprietary distribution platform to guarantee that these artists, join the rest of the Ingrooves roster in receiving worldwide distribution to all online and mobile outlets.

“These signings represent the beginning of the end of the traditional major label as we have known it,” said Robb McDaniels, Chairman and CEO of INgrooves.  “The industry has been undergoing a paradigm shift over the past few years and no one has been talking about what type of company would be there in the future to provide musicians with the suite of services they require to be successful in the digital era....”

Too $hort, who sold over 7 million albums while signed to Jive Records (Sony BMG), just delivered his last album to them and is setting up his own label.  Too $hort will release new and previously unreleased recordings from his catalogue as well as music from emerging Bay Area artists that he is developing on his own label.  “The music game is changing, and a lot of the technology is coming from right here at home in the Bay Area. I feel as an artist it’s an opportunity to tap a market that’s growing really fast and INgrooves is the perfect place for me to take advantage of these changes,” added Too $hort.

Other dance music labels and artists that Ingrooves already provides online distribution, mobile distribution, marketing and licensing services for include:
