Free Funky Remix Revolution

The lines between legal downloads and free music have become blurred thanks to Funky Remixes, a music site that allows end users to download tracks from acclaimed artists...for free.

Using creativecommons.org's tools that allow "authors, scientists, artists, and educators [to] easily mark their creative work with the freedoms they want it to carry", artists can now license their music for free use.

The pool allows artists to share their samples, loops and remixes with fans without the major record labels asking for some cash love. Some of the names involved with the use of ccMixter (a Creative Commons innovation), include the likes of Beastie Boys, Chuck D. and David Byrne. The site also allows emerging talents to showcase and share their wares with a global audience.

With continual updates and user-generated submissions, Funky Remixes is going to be a massive revolution towards legitimate and quality music.
