Tony Wilson, the man responsible for Factory Records, the Haçienda (a hub for rave culture), Joy Division, Happy Mondays and New Order, died last week of a heart attack. Immortalised by Steve Coogan in 24 Hour Party People, Wilson was the first person to put punk on TV and paved the way for independent record labels. Then there are the artists he discovered and set free to the world, including the incredibly influential Joy Division, who eventually became New Order and basically gave birth to dance music. R.I.P. Tony Wilson, you will never be forgotten.
