Dallas Raft Triple J 'The Club' - Friday 19th January
Dallas Raft has a never before seen, specially choreographed set lined up for this event, utilising 3 decks and a sampling unit to push the frontier of DJ as live performer. Without going into the technical complexities of his performance, he can effectively "mix and layer up to 9 records simultaneously". The end result has been described as a "deep, almost tribal percussive, minimalesque journey layered with distorted vocals, cut-up drum lines, synths, glitches, and absolutely LOADED with funk".
In this showcase, which will be featured on Triple J radio this Friday 19th January as part of their 'The Club' program, Dallas gives only a taste of the full performance he'll be putting together on the night, utilising up to 6 records / samples at maximum. Even still, the results are astounding... and assure his place in the top echelon of Melbourne's techno elite.
Alex Smoke Triple J 'Mix Up' - Saturday 20th January
After his set for the massively popular Radio One's Essential Mix last year, Alex has prepared a freshly recorded DJ mix exclusive to Soma Corp, and it will be broadcast nation-wide on Triple J radio this Saturday 20th January between 10pm - 1am as part of their 'Mix Up' program. As with his recent Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi. mix on Soma Recordings,
Alex again takes the road less travelled... putting together a mix of startling originality and unique vision, crossing genres and in his now signature fashion combining the futuristic, cut-up minimal techno sounds of Berlin with the warm and soulful synths and melodies of Detroit, not being afraid to funk it up with some house grooves either! A perfect laid-back treat before the storm.
Blow Your Own Way returns on Thursday 25th January, (Anzac Day eve) taking place at Saratoga.
