Soma Corp is proud to present the full Alex Smoke LIVE experience in his first Australasian tour.

"I live in Glasgow. I make electronic music. Medically stupid" is how Alex Smoke describes himself in his Myspace profile. So even if it might be slightly misleading to label him in the music genre titled minimal, he is definitely minimal with his choice of wording.

25 year old Glaswegian Alex Menzies (aka Smoke) first made an impact in 2005 when Soma released his downbeat debut album 'Incommunicado'. While highly acclaimed, it bracketed him in the minimal category, a misleading tag he has been distancing himself from ever since.

Instead, the young producer is pushing the boundaries of electronic music with his innovative style that has been described as "fusing deep European minimalism with emotional strings and intelligent electro rhythms."

Smoke followed up on 'Incommunicado' with 'Paradolia' (2006), and a string of twelve inches on coveted Berlin label Vakant from Berlin, Having quickly climbed the ranks of the techno elite he is consistently placed in lists alongside the best minimal and techno producers and DJs the world over. Most recently Alex has compiled 'Sci.Fi.Hi.Fi Vol. 3' on Soma Records,

He is also in high demand for his remixing skills, with such names as Mylo, Junior Boys, Depeche Mode, Funk D'Void and Slam being just some of the producers he has been asked to remix tracks for.

A veteran of the world tour stage, his live sets are the stuff of legend. After a brief appearance at Melbourne's Red Bull Music Academy, Australia is about to experience one of the hottest names in modern electronica - Alex Smoke LIVE.
