The internationally acclaimed Melbourne club Honkytonks is sadly shutting down after six years at the cutting edge of Australian electronic music. But before the building owners turn the den of debauchery into a bunch of sterile offices, the Honkytonks crew are having one last hurrah, with their first and last CD compilation and national tour. Mixed by residents Mike Callander and Aram Chapers, the mix CD (out 23 October on Stomp/EQ) contains two discs of avant-garde techno, house and minimal, and the duo will be taking their sound on the road nationally in November, stopping by Deep as Funk in Sydney on Friday 17 November with DJ Bongmist.
