The Madness of George W

Connecticut psychologists who recently examined the political affiliations of mentally ill voters in the States published their findings last week and revealed this week that the more psychotic a voter is, the more likely he or she is to vote for George Bush.

“Our study shows that psychotic patients prefer an authoritative leader,” said Christopher Lohse from Southern Connecticut State University.

“If your world is very mixed up, there’s something very comforting about someone telling you, ‘This is how it’s going to be’,” he added (New Haven Advocate).

In more US news, US para-military cops shot and killed a frail 88-year-old Atlanta woman during a ‘no-knock’ drugs raid last week, after she fired at them with a rusty pistol as they broke into her house unannounced.

Kathryn Johnston, "described by neighbors as feeble and afraid to open her door after dark” by local newspaper Atlanta Journal-Constitution, was raided by a SWAT team after an informer reportedly told cops he’d bought crack from her house earlier that day, though the informer later claimed police had concocted their story after the event.

The latest cop killing came as police warned that fast growing anti-snitch website WhosARat could soon cripple their investigations as more and more profiles of informers appear on the site. Describing itself as the ‘largest online database of informants and agents’ the site now lists over 4,000 profiles of people alleged to be snitches, with mug shots, court papers and personal details of individuals listed to subscribers.

Website spokesman Anthony Capone insisted the site is intended as a tool to help defendants and stressed they in no way condone violence.

"If people got hurt or killed, it's kind of on them. They knew the dangers of becoming an informant," Mr Capone told The Stamford Advocate.

"We'd feel bad, don't get me wrong, but things happen to people. If they decide to become an informant, with or without the Web site, that's a possibility,” he added.
