Soylent Green is (for the) people! Named for the 1973 sci-fi film that depicted a dystopian earth shattered by pollution, the party (this Saturday 28 October) will raise funds to aid local art collective figureight in their quest for a community studio-warehouse space. A monstrous line-up of local talent will be donating their musical skills this Saturday at Hermann’s Bar, including The Bird, Deepchild vs. Jamie Lloyd, Alphatown, Toydeath, The Phonies, Ollo, Jack Shit, Fuji Collective, The Crooked Fiddle Band, Cook ’N’ Kitch & Monk Fly, Andreya Triana, Mashy P vs. Some Freak, Kate vs. Claire Morgan, Sly Mangles vs. Mr Razzle Dazzle, Dave Choe vs. Matt Aubusson and Paul Roberts. Proceedings will kick off with a free BBQ and outdoors jam session in the afternoon, moving on to dirty DJing when the sun goes down. See myspace.com/soylg for more.
