Grime is becoming a big force in the UK, it's time for us Aussies to find out what all the fuss is about.

Forget the sugar-coated commercialism and manufactured pop idols, Roll Deep are here to make it all better. Leading the most exciting new scene to come out of the UK since the punk era, 14 man crew Roll Deep present DMC's new 'Grimey Vol.1' mixed CD.

A cross-cultural melting pot of hip hop, dancehall, jungle and garage, Grime is the voice of East London's disaffected underground. Its rhymes tell gritty tales of survival and rebellion, with MCs often directing taunts at their rivals, a practice that commonly leads to riots breaking out between competing crews.

While Garage was always about the glitz and the glam, Grime keeps it real. It's a movement that's earned a growing following of music lovers, attracted to a scene that's made an art form out of throwing the rulebook out the window.

With their scene-defining LP 'In At The Deep End' taking out the Album of the Year trophy at the Urban Music Awards, and with two top 20 singles in 2005, Roll Deep were an obvious choice to present the first installment in DMC's new 'Grimey' series.

The crew have toured America, Europe and Japan, supporting the likes of Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. Whilst at home in London, they're constantly feeding the vibrant underground movement via the pirate radio station Rinse FM.

Their studio skills are highly in-demand, with the crew lending remix and production support to MIA, Bob Marley, Jermain Dupri, Lady Sovreign, The Mitchell Bros, Floetry and Killa Kela. Such was the groundbreaking nature of 'In at the Deep End', it was ranked 19th in the Observer Music Monthly's end of year poll, beating Coldplay's 'X&Y' by one place!

From So Solid's seminal cut 'Envy', to Wiley's anthem 'Wot Do You Call it-' and Dizzee Rascal's 'I Luv You', 'Grimey Vol.1' pays homage to the Grime movement's bass-heavy garage beginnings, whilst giving a nod to the sound's multi-faceted future.

Packed full of street-wise attitude, Grime is the new age urban punk movement coming at you at full force. Get ready for a proper earful!
