New Hybrid album, 'I Choose Noise', to be released mid-September on Distinctive

Hybrid are one of the most successful, influential and renowned electronic acts in the world. Their prolific touring and DJ sets have justifiably earned them incredible global support and adulation. They have sold in excess of 150,000 albums worldwide. 'I Choose Noise' is Hybrid's eagerly anticipated 3rd album and their first release for over 2 years.

Lead single from the album is Dogstar featuring former Janes Addiction and Porno For Pyros frontman Perry Farrell.

The album also includes collaborations with Peter Distefano (Porno For Pyros), Harry Gregson Williams(film composer Shrek 1&2, Phone Booth, Chronicles of Narnia), Martin Tillman, Judy Tsuke, Kirsty Hawkshaw (Opus 3) and Peter Hook (New Order). The epic symphonic sound of this piece confirms a return to the grand orchestral scope of their brilliant first album 'Wide Angle'.

From the Vault
Never before published excerpts from 2003-2004 interview transcripts with Hybrid's Chris Healing, relating to the new album. Interviews conducted by Terry Goldfain

  • Chris Healing in 2003, prior to release of 'Morning Sci-Fi', discussing his influences including Perry Farrell of Jane's Addiction:
We love dramatic music no matter what the source. Influences on the second album include film scores from 'Dream Catcher' and 'From Hell', Radiohead, the new Janes Addiction album and The Doves. I still love dance music, but I can't spend every living moment surrounded by it. So listening to other stuff, especially more indie-based songs, is also going to come through in our music. Dance music is always going be part of what we do as it's ingrained within us. But now we're bringing out our new favourite influences. We want to make albums that people always have to have in their collections. I've lost my Radiohead 'Kid A' album three times now, and will be buying a fourth copy as I have to have it. . I keep leaving it in the car or somewhere else. We're trying to make albums that you have to have in your collection, even if you lose it you'll go and buy another one. We're just trying to make something that will live a little longer than a techno record that is massive at the time but forgotten about a few months later

  • From same interview transcript - talking about Peter Hook (New Order bass player):
He's cool as fuck that man, I tell you what. We had our best live gig at Fabric three weeks ago. Peter was with us. I walk into the dressing room and Peter is sweating like hell so I say 'Peter what have you been doing-' and he replies 'I've been in that jungle room, right- It's fucking excellent! It's like the Hacienda years ago. It's like the future! Come on!' He grabs me by the hand, drags me into the jungle room and starts going off. He's great but a nutter. And the great thing is he's doing it for fun At the moment. He's playing with us just for fun.
