Brand new artist album from Berlins brilliant Get Physical label.

The follow up to hot releases from Booka Shade , M.A.N.D.Y & Dj T! Get Physical is one of the worlds leading electronic labels, winning DJ magazines 'Label of the Year' award in 2005. 'Fuckpony' is the latest project by US producers in Berlin, Jay Haze and Samim, his Swiss collaborator and it's going to take you on a ride through the roots of dance music, so hold on tight! Haze and Samim are best known for their stripped back, quirky techno on Haze's Contexterrior and Tuning Spork labels, but for Fuckpony, they wanted to try something differnt.

The fruits of this project is 'Children Of Love', an album inspired by dance music's evocative, emotional past. Fuckpony are dedicated to celebrating just how great classic mid-to-late '80s house music was. Detroit techno snuggles up to deep house textures, Chicago claps and drums get cosy with raw acid lines, mournful electro synths accompany soulful, tripped out vocals. The album is richly musical, strangely familiar and undoubtedly infectious - it's impossible to dislodge the hooks from recent killer singles 'Ride The Pony' or 'Cellphone Hit' from that part of your brain that keeps flashing 'tune' - but it also boasts the futuristic techno brush strokes that we've come to expect from Haze and Samim

'Children Of Love' isn't solely about house music: listen to the nagging bass on the deep fried acid of 'Freaky Story Of Earth' and it's clear that Funkedelic's psychedelic groove left a big impression on the pair.

Two things stop this being just a derivative exercise in nostalgia. Firstly, Fuckpony do this music incredibly well, with an obvious deep love for, and knowledge of, the sounds they're bringing back to life. These tracks feel like recently unearthed lost classics, rather than the latest releases of a couple of cutting-edge producers. Secondly, on a few occasions Fuckpony decide to throw some 21st Century elements into the mix, creating something truly new and original: the best example being the title track, which joins the dots between Chicago House, minimal techno, and the tart, metallic melancholy of the modern day Cologne sound to stunning effect. Children of Love is a master-class in how it should be done. Another killer album from the Get Physical stable !
