Flesh record company chief Mark Reeder chatted to Skrufff this week about his new Berlin monthly Flesh for Fantasy at Mitte’s equally new venue Ruder and explained he’s offering “erogenous and stimulating music” for sexually open-minded people of all persuasions and tastes.

“The basic idea is to have a regular flesh label night of ‘Wet & Hard’ music in Berlin, so for the next party at Ruder on 4 November, we’ve got Corvin Dalek returning from a three-month tour of China and Ireland’s John Gibbons plus Jonty Skrufff,” said Mark. “We provide the music and you have to bring your own fantasy with you.”

Admitting ‘wet & hard’ remains provocative to some (“just because we wanted to have a more sexual slant to describe our dance music, many considered us too hedonistic or pornographic”) Mark stressed the new night is NOT intended to be a KitKat style fetish club, though equally is firmly centred on individuality and tolerance.

“We just offer clubbers the chance to escape, dress up and let loose their sexuality. It's about a quest of discovery, finding who you are and feeling comfortable with those like-minded people around you. It’s up to the clubbers themselves to know and understand that they can go to our parties and dress up crazy and colourfully without being condemned for it,” said Mark.

“I’m also really bored and sick of hearing about the same old weary has-been, so-called superstar DJs, talking about settling down, buying houses, being born-again, or hypocritically condemning drugs just to be able to enter into politics,” he complained, “all the while traversing the globe first class, staying in five star hotels and being paid stupid amounts of cash for lethargically playing a tedious bunch of slack old tunes to the amazed masses.

“Some of them should really hang up their headphones,” he added. “We need new blood and fresh flesh.”
