The lid has been lifted on the Sydney Festival 07 programme, and it’s suitably stellar. An exciting new venue in Redfern, Carriageworks, will be utilised, as will the Capitol Theatre. The Beck’s Festival Bar returns, this time with a new companion in the Famous Spiegeltent, to be pitched in Hyde Park. The creative arts roster is equalled by the musical acts booked, including Lou Reed’s Berlin at the Capitol Theatre and Ugly Duckling, Violent Femmes, Jazzanova & Clara Hill, Batucada Sound Machine, Crazy Penis and more in the Beck’s Festival Bar. Nitin Sawhney is scoring a performance piece at Carriageworks and hip hop theatre performer Will Power is locked in for a solo show. And that’s just scraping the surface, too. Tickets are on sale now at sydneyfestival.org.au.
