'Beauty & the Beat' are a back to back DJ team based in Germany comprised of DJs Sally Doolally and Goetzlich. They typically play a fusion from both their DJ styles, culminating in groovy, progressive beats. Its Sally who was kind enough to chat to us here.

Amazingly, the two manage to combine the hectic demands of touring and playing with life. Sally says "We are both over 30 and are in a loving relationship together without being married (and no kids yet!) we aim to create a fun and positive atmosphere on the dance floor....my favourite moment in playing together at Wonderland festival in Germany, the biggest and fattest festival we have played on so far!"

Initially using the DJ tag 'Lost & Found' they were inspired to change it to 'Beauty & the Beat' after featuring on KIS FM in Jakartas They have played on frequent parties in Germany together and internationally in Bali, Portugal and Belgium and also playing on European festivals Wonderland and Dance-A-Delic. "

"Recently we played Portugal which went really well and great venues, especially the Hard Club in Porto which is an old cork factory overlooking the river and the city. After we have played at Rainbow, we'll be at St Kilda Street Festival on the Summer Sound System by Earthcore (as well as at the Earthcore after party at Seven), an outdoor day event in Sydney, in Perth for Namaska and also at Exodus in Queensland."

Busy times, but they are seasoned professionals who love their work.

Sally began mixing vinyl in the early 90s, playing all over the planet - UK, Australia, Israel, Mexico, Portugal, Switzerland, Japan, Thailand, India, Austria, Belgium, New Zealand, Indonesea and has played on international festivals like The Voov-Experience

Goetz has been DJ-ing as a vinyl junkie for over 11 years now, making a solid name for himself in Germany as a progressive and break beat DJ. His sound is fresh, funky and groovy and has taken him to play internationally in Thailand, Goa, Bali, Portugal, Belgium, Holland. When he isn't playing, he is a busy graphic and flash designer (www.goetzlich.de) in addition to his occasional party organisation and production under the name Switchbox.

"We have made any releases yet, still experimenting a lot and learning the tools.I think our sound, like a lot of people tell us, is Pumping, groovy, progressive..... Our set at Rainbow will be groovy and pumping, although we don't have a fixed set and for sure we will be checking out the DJs playing before us and how the crowd react. Sure we have a lot of new music which will be mixed up with some of our favourite classics, its always something different."

You can next see Beauty and the Beat playing on Saturday afternoon at the Market Stage at this years Rainbow Serpent Festival.
