PF 26# - New Year, New Venue, Same Attitude

After our month in the sun (not that it really helped our collective 'clubber's tans'), with batteries recharged and record bags packed to the brim yet again, the good ship Private Function is ready to set off for another big year, and after three years and 24 parties at Two Floors Up, we've decided that it's time to move out and into new surroundings.

After an extensive search, keeping in mind that we love being situated in the heart of Melbourne town, while still wanting to offer our loyal punters the flexibility of two rooms to choose from, the choice proved pretty simple really Platform One (situated in two of the Banana Alley Vaults, by the Yarra underneath the end of Flinders Street Station). With exposed brickwork, a massive dancefloor and great looking bars, we believe the new venue is almost the perfect setting for some PF action. We're pretty sure that you will to. We'll also be moving to a Friday night, meaning an extra day to recover on the weekend (yay!)

We've got quite a few guests lined up already for 2005, and we thought that we'd start the year off with Melbourne's newest import. He first came to Melbourne to play at Sunny in 2002 and liked our fair city so much he pretty much never went back to New York City where he hails from. He is, of course, PQM. His productions are pretty special, from the 'Flying Song', 'You Are Sleeping' and 'Nameless' (all released on Deep Dish's Yoshitoshi label), through to his recent collaborations with Phil K such as 'The Just Wont Let Me Be', his tracks have been licensed to countless compilations over the last few years. And his DJ sets are just as entertaining, with Quick (that's what the 'Q' stands for) using all the tools available to him, fusing his music with his own accapellas, beats and pieces to ensure that you're not going to hear anything like this from anyone else.

Joining Quick will be the usual PF suspects, Gavin Martin, Aaron Roach, Dean Millson and Sasha Petrovic. They will also be joined this month by another of this City's up and coming jocks, Max Koenig. Entry will be $15 or $10 on the guestlist, and as usual anyone can rsvp for the list by heading to http://privatefunction.tranzfusion.net or if you've got a big list you can email it through to us at privatefunction@tranzfusion.net, easy really!

We look forward to seeing you on the dancefloor once again.
