Godskitchen announcd this week that their massively successful dance festival Global Gathering is expanding to become a 2 night event, with camping facilities being provided for the first time.

"The event will open 5pm on the Friday night up until 2am then on the Saturday we'll re-open at 2pm running through until 6am," festival promoter James Algate told Skrufff.

"People will then return to the campsites and do whatever they want to do in the camp sites, I'm sure they'll be a few little parties that go on all night," he predicted, "then we'll open up again as a fresh event the next day, just like Glastonbury does."

Friday's entertainment will be centred around live acts with Saturday remaining a "pure dance music event', as James put it, with customers being given the option of buying tickets for each day or the entire weekend.

"If you buy a weekend ticket you'll be entitled to camp throughout the whole event, we'll be opening the camping areas early Friday morning so people can pitch their tents," said James.

"The site will easily be able to handle 40,000 people camping which could go easily up to 60,000," he added. "Over the past few years we've only used a quarter of it, it's a huge site."

Also attending the Long Marston Airfield are Radio 1, who recently selected the event as their only English dance festival of 2005.

"At the moment, the plan is to broadcast Pete Tong's Essential Selection, live from the festival on Friday night," James confirmed.

Then on the Saturday, we'll run throughout the night. We're also not going to be having an Essential mix arena, instead we'll be popping from arena to arena, so you might be hearing drum & bass one minute, then hard house or techno the next."
