As the early 80s post punk era continues to provide inspiration for large swathes of the post house music electronic club world, it's unsurprising and appropriate that some of the originals are returning to the fold and Ireland's Virgin Prunes are one such outfit well deserving of such attention.

Coming up alongside the likes of Southern Death Cult, Xmal Deutschland and Danse Society, the band were key players on England's alternative, post punk scene of the early 80s, wearing skirts, make-up and generally transgressing with the spirit that defined the wilder side of club culture back then. Hailing from Ireland, the 6 piece collective formed with the specific goal of exploring the beauty in being different and musically developed a sound that was both unique and highly listenable.

Mute are releasing five CDs comprising virtually all the band's work, though it's If I Die, I Die which represents them at their best, including haunting otherworldy opener Ulakanakulot, theatrical anthem Decline and Fall, Caucasian Walk and Nag Nag Nag favourite Baby Turn Blue. Release date for all five CDs is October 4
