DJ portal/ online compilation outfit TrusttheDJ went into adminstration this week, some four years after launching just as the dot.com bubble burst. The highly popular site handled microsites, compilation and various business functions for scores of big name DJs, though according to a statement issued this week, faced an uncertain commercial future.

"After much soul searching by the board and attempts at finding a solution to the challenges that we faced, it was decided that the business going forward would not be viable," said TrusttheDJ.

"Over the last four years the individual facets of the group were profitable, but as a whole the investors felt that this may not be the case in the near future."

Meanwhile, alternative dance magazine Jockey Slut (JS) announced a radical cutback in their activities, reducing their frequency from monthly to quarterly (ie printing new issues once every three months). JS's sister magazine, lifestyle publication Sleaze Nation is being renamed Sleaze and being completely re-launched with a totally new editorial team, according to trade organisation Brand Republic.

"With consumer habits continually evolving, Sleaze knows that its (Sleaze Nation) readers no longer wanted to be dictated to," publishers Swinstead admitted.

"Consumerism now has little to aspire to and in anticipation of this, Sleaze realises the role of the magazine must change, offering more than tribal trends and styles."

Jockey Slut will reportedly be devoting more resources to their website at jockeyslut.com.
