Belgium Soulwax duo 2 Many DJs received a critical mauling from both Miss Kittin and DJ Lottie this week, in separate articles in DJ magazine and the Standard.

Miss Kittin criticised the eclectic style of music they'd played at a party in Miami with The Rapture, complaining 'it's not electroclash, it's not rock & roll - you start to have these ghetto parties for fashion people. For me that isn't necessarily a good thing." Lottie, however, was decidedly crueller.

"Now, even though I am of the Dave Clarke school of thought and think 2 Many DJs are a 21st Century Jive Bunny, they are still worth checking out," she quipped in her weekly club guide to London.

However, judging by the experiences of original Jive Bunny producer Andy Pickles (nowadays known as the superstar hard house DJ/ head honcho of Tidy Trax) the comparison might not be as bad as it seems.

"I was 19 years old when Jive Bunny happened, and I had three number one singles, sold 12-15 million records worldwide and it was a phenomenon, even though was just one of those crazy, leftfield things that happened out of the blue," he recalled last year.

"Then after the initial success over three years, I started wanting to distance myself from it because naturally it wasn't a 'cool' thing. Though nowadays, I find myself doing more and more interviews based around the Jive Bunny stuff. All the kids that are into the hard house/ Tidy sound today were around ten or eleven at the time," andy told Skrufff.

"These days I even find people coming to clubs with Jive Bunny albums to be signed."
