Japan's world famous nightspot The Liquid Room has closed down after almost a decade of being one of the key venues on the international DJ circuit, DJ Magazine reported this week.

The warehouse style venue (situated on the 7th floor of an office block in Tokyo's entertainment district Shinjuku) played host to most of the world's best known DJs, including Jeff Mills, who put it firmly on the map in 1995 when he released a mix CD 'Jeff Mills-Live At The Liquid Room'. Coincidentally, the Detroit wizard is just about to release his long awaited follow up The Exhibitionist Mix though appeared unusually pessimistic, writing on his Axis website in December.

"We are at a turning point in the history of techno music," Mills claimed.

"If the younger generation has less interest in supporting music then . . . why don't techno labels begin to create and release music targeted to an older generation- (Jockey Slut)

Jeff Mills- Exhibitionist Mix is out on February 2 on React Records
