Tim Deluxe- Bootlegs Just Won't Do, But . . .

British house producer Tim Deluxe chatted to Skrufff this week and revealed that he was both surprised yet delighted when Carl Cox first added an acapella of his Just Won't Do hit to Renato Cohen's techno instrumental Pontape.

"I deliberately don't release acapellas because I don't like people doing bootlegs so it's quite weird that this one's happened at all," said Tim.

"There was no acapella available, and I don't know exactly how Carl actually did it, though I think he was just lumping the original Renato's track, and EQing out [fading out the bass- technical Ed] the bottom ends."

The resulting bootleg style record Just Kick is coming out shortly on Carl Cox's label Intec Records and looks certain to be a club smash, though Tim stressed he still remains cautious about losing control of his music.

"I'm not against bootlegs in principle, if people have a sensible plan then they're welcome to approach us, I'm approachable," he said.

"But it's when they take the piss, and just stick your track over something else and it's not very good, that it just looks bad and doesn't do you any favours. It just clogs up record stores with poor quality versions of your music and you don't make any money from them either."

He also revealed he's still not met techno producer Renato Cohen or been to his place of birth Brazil.

I've heard it's rocking in Brazil and I really want to go," said Tim.

I absolutely love the vibe of Latin people, particularly Brazilian women. I really like them. Matthew (Bushwacka) and Layo go out there a lot and I know they love it. I'll definitely get there soon, one way or another," he promised.

Just Kick is released on 23 February on Intec Records.
