DJ Tiesto, Paul Van Dyk and Armin Van Buuren took the top 3 spots for the second year running in DJ Magazine's latest annual poll of DJs, with trance dominating the rankings more than eve before.

"It's obvious that it's been a good year for DJs spinning trance, an incredible one third of this year's top 100 are mainly known for being trance DJs," DJ said in the accompanying special issue.

"The trance tidal wave has squeezed all of the following house DJs out of the top 100 this year: Yousef, Tim Deluxe, Lottie, Masters At Work, Darren Emerson, Jon Carter, Layo & Bushwacka, Danny Rampling, Frankie Knuckles, Dave Lee and DJ Sneak," said DJ.

Tiesto's victory came several months after he performed in front of billions on TV at the opening ceremony of the Olympics, though editor Lesley Wright told Time Out this week she didn't think his performance won him many extra votes.

"Apparently he fluffed his first mix, bless him," she quipped. "Still, if you've got an audience of 4 billion, you've got a right to be a bit nervous."
