Top German house producer Boris Dlugosch, who not only discovered Sophie Ellis Bextor but also transformed Moloko from failing indie soon-to-be has-beens into international pop stars, has turned away from house to electro, for his first ever mix CD Bionic Breaks.

The upcoming double CD includes classic 80s electro tracks from the likes of Afrika Bambattaa, Man Parrish and Jellybean as well as new electro-disco cuts from Zoot Woman, Metro Area and Swayzak.

"This is the funhouse CD Jellybean Benitez should have made," Arthur Baker writes on the sleevenotes.

"And the new tracks Boris has chosen to incorporate, show the strong link between electro past, present and future."

Dlugosch's decision to focus so closely on electro, given his huge contribution to house music, which has seen him not only turning Moloko's Sing It Back into a worldwide clubland hit but also doing the same thing with Spiller's Groovejet in 2001.

"My friend Spiller, who wrote the track Groovejet, was a bit lost when Positiva (his label at the time) asked him to record some vocals over his track in order to make a crossover record," Boris told Skrufff soon after.

"We picked Sophie (Ellis-Bextor) from a variety of tapes that had been sent to us, not really knowing who she was. Sophie happened to have written the perfect vocals for the track, so she was the obvious choice."

Bionic Breaks comes out on March 1st on Kontor Records.
