England's favourite Americans of the moment, gay/straight electro pop quintet Scissor Sisters, revealed this week that they fear their the open-minded stance towards homosexuality could keep them marginalized in the States, where they have yet to release their album.

"Homophobia is the last accepted form of bigotry in the US," Ana Mantronic told the Standard.

"Their attitude is that it's okay to decorate your home, just don't invite them for dinner."

Her comments came days after Blondie's superstar sex symbol Debbie Harry told a British lesbian magazine that she's had 'lots' of female lovers as part of what she cheerfully termed her ongoing 'pretty exotic lifestyle'.

"I have had my sexual relationships with women, yes," Debbie told Diva, "(but) I am probably more heterosexual than I am homosexual, or even bisexual."

More sinisterly, The New York Times this week described the sexual abuse of Iraqi prisoners at Abu Ghraib prison as 'routine' in US jails, with male prisoners in Arizona being forced to wear pink knickers in one prison and Texan convicts facing the possibility of being sold as sex slaves by gang leaders, in collusion with guards.
