Mix albums and remix albums are often compilations of recently amassed work, but the vision for 'Involver' was to build a project from the ground up, so Sasha looked at various records he has admired and loved over the last few years, and took the time to re-create each one individually for this CD. Approaching people such as Ulrich Schnauss, Felix Da Housecat, Unkle and many other artists that have inspired him over the years, and it's a testament to Sasha's reputation and standing in the scene that each of these names were more than willing to hand over their music for him to rework.
With the parts to each piece of music in his possession, Sasha has spent the last few months carefully reworking each, utilising a redeveloped studio setup that combines software and hardware to create a unique platform by which Sasha can get far move involved in what he does, trying things on the fly as if he was reworking each track in a live situation, just as if he were mixing records in a club, but adding a multi dimensional tangent to that skill he is so renowned for.
As Sasha himself says, "Vinyl can only tell part of the story. I'm embracing technology to attain a new interpretation of mixing. Involver is my experiment. It's all great music, which I'm presenting back out to to the world in my own way which is exactly what DJs always talk about doing. They don't have the tools to do that when they are in a club. The fact that I got all the separate parts to the mixes and put it all back together to create my own sound is the ultimate form of DJing."
Involver came about through exploration and experimentation - it became the redefinition of a creative process in a way that keeps Sasha's craft in line with the ever-changing world of technology, and will be released on single CD, limited edition pillow pack cd (with special packaging and 10 full colour cards containing a description of each track and a narrative from Sasha on what he did to each and why he chose it for it), in addition a double pack vinyl format for DJs to conduct their own experiments with.
Involver blurs the lines between the DJ mix compilation and the producer / artist album. Every track is an original Sasha remix or re-creation that has been exclusively recorded as an original piece for this project. Once again this is the sound of Sasha staying one step ahead of the pack.
