An 18 year old Australian clubber has been arrested after allegedly terrorising a couple outside a Melbourne club with a samurai sword last weekend, after the pair got him ejected for stealing their drugs.

According to reports in local media, Gianluca Cacopardo was kicked out of Bubble nightclub on Saturday night (January 3) then met up with two men outside, collected a sword and attacked the couple in their car, smashing one of its windows, before running off then being arrested soon after. Local cops insisted Melbourne clubbers are not usually known for samurai sword related ultra-violence.

"These incidences occur from time to time and we deal with them when they come up," Acting Inspector Rodney Stewart told the Herald Sun.

"But it's not something that happens all the time," he insisted.

The incident happened as the Australian government's statistics agency revealed that nearly 400 tourists die each year in the country with foreign visitors 'five times more likely to die in a violent manner' than locals (The Guardian). However, the discrepancy arises because so many tourists practise extreme sports, with one in three tourist deaths caused by external factors including car accidents and drowning, The Guardian reported.
