Keith Prodigy and his new band Clever Brains Frying will be performing at next month's Global Gathering Festival, headlining Ali B's Air tent, Godskitchen promoters announced this week.

The new 5 piece act (described as an 'exteacurricular project for Keith) will be making their live debut at the 30,000 capacity event and will be the only live performers alongside DJs including Carl Cox, Sasha, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Dyk, Oakenfold and Judge Jules.

The Prodigy frontman's decision to appear at Godskitchen came just 12 months after his former bandmate Leeroy Thornhill chatted to Skrufff about how The Prodigy turned their back on raves in the mid 90s after 'maturing out of making straight dance music'.

"We got more of a buzz from playing at festivals alongside bands like the Chilli Peppers, Helmet and all those rock bands," Leeroy recalled.

"It was more of a challenge to have these crowds booing you when you walked on stage and making them dance at the end of it than it was playing to a load of people who were off their heads on ecstasy who would dance if you played sandpaper," he said.

However, Prodigy song-writer/ main-man Liam Howlett appears to have changed his mind about 'straight dance music', telling MTV this week that their new album 'Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned' is more in the style of their 1994 breakbeat monster album 'Music for the Jilted Generation'.

"I wanted to make a record that was more old school, like our second album," said Liam. "I wanted to make it sexier and go back to the beats."

He added that Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned is scheduled for release on September 15.
