Manhattan club chief Robert Brookman warned this week that a new sex equality bill proposing twice as many toilets for women than men could cost New York night clubs 'tens of millions of dollars' to implement. (The Guardian)

The New York Nightlife Association lawyer was responding to a proposal dubbed the 'Restroom Equity' Bill, or 'Potty Parity' Bill, which city councillor Yvette Clarke introduced last December in response to the fact that women take almost twice as long to use the loo. According to the Guardian, one of the reasons for the extra time was down to women being three times as likely as men to wash their hands afterwards, with removing and adding clothes being another key factor.

In more toilet sex equality news, organisers for Glastonbury Festival announced this week that they'll be introducing stand-up urinals for women at next weekend's event, located near the Pyramid (main) stage.

"There are plenty of places the men can go and have a pee when they're right in the middle of the festival and not near some of the proper toilets, these are the female equivalent of that," a spokesperson told Reuters.

"It's equality for women, basically."
