Ryan Noel, the 29 year old guitarist with acclaimed electroclash pioneers A.R.E Weapons has been found dead in the band's Manhattan studio, after taking a heroin overdose.

A.R.E. Weapon bandleader Paul Sevigny (the brother of movie star Chloe) told the New York Post they'd been 'blindsided' by his death, saying 'The real tragedy is as far as anyone knew, he wasn't using; his life was going really well, he was really happy.'

"The A.R.E. Weapons were the other band, besides Fischerspooner, that sparked my interest in the music now called Electroclash," said Skrufff's man-in-New York Larry Tee.

"They were the noisy, hipster side to Fischerspooner's Cirque de Soliel."

Nowadays a proud group leader art Narcotics Anonymous, Larry admitted to being surprised at the manner of the guitarist's death.

"I think heroin has become less popular since 9-11 and I rarely see anyone nodding (being under the influence of heroin- drugs Ed) these days, I think heroin has gone underground again since most people here think it is passe' and risky," he said.

Larry's partner Conrad Ventur booked the band for their Rogue party several months ago at Pyramid and had been impressed by Ryan's performance, he said.

"I think Ryan was a real talent," he said. "He will be missed."
