British Goth/ rock Manhattan club promoter Neville Wells was languishing in a US jail this week on second degree murder charges after he was arrested for drunk driving after being involved in a horrific fatal car accident.

Wells reportedly jumped a red light and smashed into the side of a car in the Lower East Side at 3am in the early hours of Monday morning (June 14) killing 39 year old mother of three Judith Gubernikoff and seriously injuring her 67 year old father Robert Smith. According to the New York Daily New Wells then tried to escape the scene though was stopped by a passer-by who held him until police arrived.

The 42 year old Brit was one of Manhattan's main club promoters on the Goth/ Rock/ Vampire scene, and was described in a USA Today feature in 1994 as the 'orchestrator of the scene'. More recently he promoted events at Downtown, West 30th Street and was also convicted of drink driving in 1997 and 2001.

He appears certain to receive a lengthy prison sentence if found guilty (the maximum penalty for second degree murder in New York is 25 years to life).
