Moby Dismisses Sex & Drug Smears

New York producer Moby has laughed off tabloid reports that he bought
cocaine off a lapdancer, dismissing the claims as scurrilous gossip.

"My only response is that in some ways I wish that my life were as exciting
as the gossip press oftentimes reports it to be," said Moby, writing on his
website journal this week.

"Now, as it's a Sunday, I'm going to go do coke with some strippers on board
my private plane. Don't believe everything you read," he quipped.

The New York Daily News had claimed that the outspoken dance star gave a
stripper $400 "just to talk" who then got angry after she gave him coke and
he "hoovered" the lot. The tabloid also claimed he'd raised the anecdote at
a storytelling event at the China Club recently, suggesting "Moby is still
committed to convincing people he's straight."

"She gave me a bag of cocaine. I'm 38, but I'd never done coke before, I
didn't know you were supposed to share," the Daily News quoted him as
confessing.
