Steve Strange's Visage will be playing live at the re-opening of London's Electrogogo club next week, when the Thursday night party returns from its summer break at new home Zoo (on Bear Street, just off Leicester Square).

Club promoter/ resident DJ Mark Moore chatted to Skrufff this week and revealed he's excited about the facilities the new venue provides.

"Madame Jojo's was lovely but at the end of the day it was just a large shoebox; Zoo has two rooms and has the kitsch factor of Madame Jojos as well as nooks and crannies to snog in, plus places to explore," said Mark.

"Also having a second room means we can put on interesting people who haven't Djed before. We want to get rid of that performer-consumer dynamic that was so prevalent in the 90s. We like to include our crowd as much as possible by giving slots to their bands and encouraging them to actually start bands," he explained.

Zoo's second room is being dubbed the 'anti-VIP room', reflecting the flamboyance of many of the regulars, said Mark.

"Our crowd has style but aren't particularly followers of fashion and they aren't likely to harass any of their musical heroes. Most of them are future stars anyway - hence the redundancy of a VIP room," he continued.

Future guests pencilled in include Laurent Garnier and Carl Craig spinning alternative sets and possibly Moby ('We're still trying to convince Moby to do a punk/rock set but he's sick of travelling at the moment," said Mark).

(Visage play around 11.30pm, Jonty Skrufff DJs from 1.30 to 3am: Thursday
September 9)
