Is Goth The Next Big (80s) Thing-

Indie tastemaker type Steve Mason from The Beta Band dismissed British youth culture as bland and unadventurous this week, though qualified his scorn by admitting he feels a sneaking admiration for Goths.

"When you see Goths in the street, your instant reaction is to think of them as idiots," the notoriously moody musician told The Guardian.

"But I think that Goths are the best thing ever invented because at least they're daring to put on a load of make-up and wear silly clothes."

The Beta Bandman's endorsement of the much maligned 80s cult came just weeks after Skrufff's US correspondent Larry Tee revealed he's increasingly spotting flamboyantly dressed Goths at his US club gigs, many of whom apparently call themselves Gravers (gothic ravers).

"I don't really like the Graver look, to be honest, but I love the fact they're dressing wild," the Electroclash founder told Skrufff.

"A lot of the gravers also seem to be a little on the heavy side, which is even more exciting," he added, "you see bulges in unusual places. It's called super-sizing."
