Home Alone Oakey's Bohemian Blues

Paul Oakenfold's neighbour John Outram chatted to the Guardian this week about Tony Blair's decision to buy a mansion next door to the superstar DJ's London pied a terre and suggested Blair will find Oakey's square lonely rather than lively.

"The square is not intellectual-bohemian, it's quite wonderfully neutral," the 30 year Connaught Square resident told the newspaper.

"People are always walking through it, and you don't know who these people are. The houses are like horse blinkers: everybody just looks out on the square, the houses are very soundproof, and nobody knows what's happening to either side of them. It's just perfect. You feel alone," the architect declared.

His comments contradicted earlier reports in the Guardian who predicted in October that "guitar-playing Tony Blair can look forward to jamming sessions with next door neighbour Paul Oakenfold.' Oakey could also be spending even more time in the States where this week his album for Creamfields was nominated for a Grammy.

The record goes up for Best Electronic/Dance Album against Basement Jaxx' Kish Kash, The Crystal Method's "Legion of Boom', The Prodigy's "Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned' and Paul Van Dyk's Reflections. The Chemical Brothers have also been nominated for Best Dance Recording Grammy for their single Get Yourself High' (alongside Kylie, Scissor Sisters, Britney Spears and Basement Jaxx).
