Godskitchen's Global Gathering Goes Electro (Clash)

Midlands dance festival Global Gathering have added an electro based arena to their upcoming attraction featuring The Glimmer Twins, Arthur Baker and Nag, Nag, Nag star JoJo De Freq.

"Electroclash Queen Jo Jo De Freq will bring an explosion of expression to the floor, raising the stakes through out the earlier hours with her personal not purist attitude," Godskitchen said this week.

"You can strut your stuff on the dance floor or just hang out and relax on the sun deck soaking up the ultimate festival experience," they suggested.

The addition of the new electro tent means Global Gathering will now be hosting 10 DJ only arenas and no live acts, in marked contrast to rival dance festival Homelands, who've recently cut back on DJs to concentrate on bands.

"I think the Homelands crowd prefer live music more than anything else," Homelands chief Darren Hughes told DJmag this week.

"When a band are on form and they pull out all the stops on stage it beats any DJ," he claimed. (Djmag.com)

In more Darren Hughes news, hard house/ breaks DJ Anne Savage (who'll be DJing at Global Gathering) took exception to last week's Skrufff story in which Darren suggested superstar DJs are 'past their sell-by date', telling Skrufff 'I find Darren Hughes' comments on 'superstar DJs' amusing.'

"He has made a fortune over the years in dance music by creating superstar DJs and a superclub himself (Cream)," Anne continued.

"I would be interested to see the ticket sales figures for Homelands this year, I heard they're down dramatically. Feel free to quote me on that."
